Southwest Michigan Says Goodbye to Beloved Breakfast Spot
It was sudden and without warning, but thankfully we won't have to go hungry after all.
I feel like we should be numb to all the rebrands and closings but it never gets any easier does it? Just months after we said goodbye to Traveler's Craft BBQ, Brite Eyes Brewing, and even the beloved Kalamazoo State Theatre, more changes are coming to Southwest Michigan.
I happen to be someone who uses the term "brunch" very loosely. In my opinion, as long as you are eating breakfast food and it's before 3 o'clock-- it's brunch. Note: there is no time limit for mimosas; that's an all-day thing.
When I'm looking to brunch in Southwest Michigan I usually hit up favorites like 600 Kitchen in Kalamazoo, Louie's in Texas Corners, or Roxie's Gull Road location. I drive past Roxie's every day and can't help but notice how consistently busy they are, however, I can't say the same for Roxie's Vicksburg location.
Sadly, we've received word that Roxie's in Vicksburg has closed their doors permanently! A member of the Kalamazoo Menu Facebook group shared a photo of a note left on the door that reads as follows:
Dear Valued Guests-- it is with a heavy heart we announced the permanent closure of our Vicksburg location of Roxie's Breakfast and Lunch...With our lease ending in December we have decided to close early to allow our staff some extra time with their family over the holiday season.
Roxie's cites the "unforeseen future of wages in the restaurant industry" as the reason for shuttering the location. Roxie's Gull Road location will remain open and Vicksburg staff will make the move to Roxie's main location in Kalamazoo.
When was the last time you were at Roxie's?
