A Battle Creek flower shop that has been open for almost a century will be closing their doors this month.

In a Facebook post Wednesday, Swonks Flower Shop announced that that they would be closing after 91 years of business. The people behind Swonks, Jeanette and Jim Schmid, say that they appreciate all of the “many wonderful customers” that they have provided flowers to in “their happiest and hardest times”, but they had to make the decision to shut down. They say they “hope they’ve left their mark on the Battle Creek community” and want to be remembered for being one of the longest running flower shops in the city.

Swonks has operated for 91 years in the Battle Creek community, all from the same location on Goguac St. near the former Southwestern Middle School.

If you want to stop in and say goodbye, they say you can do so this Friday; all flower orders should be placed by noon Saturday, with Swonks’ final deliveries being made by next Wednesday, October 31 (Halloween).
