One of the trickiest things we have to deal with in the Winter while shopping in Downtown Kalamazoo are avoiding ice on the sidewalks. It's actually one of the most dangerous hazards we have to face almost anywhere we go, whether it's on foot or in a car. Luckily the city of Kalamazoo is making strides to making sure those who will be enjoying the winter season downtown don't have to worry about slipping and falling.

The 'Snowmelt' system extension on W. Michigan Avenue is just about finished. Late last week, the city of Kalamazoo's Instagram page updated everyone that the popular system, which makes it so ice and snow can't accumulate on the sidewalks, is nearly completed. Now if you're doing some holiday shopping or just enjoying the weather in the area downtown, you won't have to worry about getting hurt or covered in nasty salt.
