Since Henrik Zetterberg announced the end of his playing career for the Detroit Red Wings  fans were wondering who would replace him.  For now it looks like the team will wait another year and go with alternate captains.

According to the story from M-Live, the team has decided to go with 4 alternate captains through out the upcoming season.  Niklas Kronwall and Justin Abdelkader will wear A's.  The other A will be shared by Frans Nielsen and Dylan Larkin.

They will alternate the A with Nielsen wearing it during road games and Larkin during home games.  I think this is a great decision by the team.

A great way to transition the C between Henrik Zetterberg and eventually Dylan Larkin.  Let him lead this season without all the pressure and eventually take it on either next year or after.  Frans Nielsen should be a good leader as well and the other two have worn the A in the past.

What do you think  good decision?  If not should they have named a captain for the season?  The Red Wings will start the season against the Columbus Blue Jackets Thursday night (October 4th).
