A recent study says  Ohio, Indiana and Wisconsin are among the 20 grossest states in the United States.

A recent study released by Zippia.com used these three main factors to determine the Grossest States:

Hilarious note: they used a couple secondary factors in this study which include whow many people in each state googled mayo recipes and crocs.  I guess, scientifically speaking, that's gross.  Once all of those numbers were tabulated we learned three Midwest states fell in the top 20 grossest in America.

#13 Ohio
#14 Wisconsin
#19 Indiana

Where does Michigan land?  In the top 10 of least gross of course (#42.)  You can see where all 50 states landed on the Grossest States in the U.S. for 2021 by clicking here.

It may seem like we pick on Ohio a lot.  With articles like 'Indiana and Ohio Among Least Responsible States During Pandemic', 'Ohio is One of the Rudest States in America' and 'Why are People Moving Out of Ohio at Such a High Rate?'  Full disclosure, I was born and raised in Michigan and lived in Ohio once for a couple years.  I think that gives me the green light to make fun of the Buckeye State whenever these new studies come out.  However, it's important to take these "studies" with a grain of salt.  The "Grossest States," even with the solid data their using, is still more of a personal judgement call than it is science.

LOOK: Here are the 50 best beach towns in America

Every beach town has its share of pluses and minuses, which got us thinking about what makes a beach town the best one to live in. To find out, Stacker consulted data from WalletHub, released June 17, 2020, that compares U.S. beach towns. Ratings are based on six categories: affordability, weather, safety, economy, education and health, and quality of life. The cities ranged in population from 10,000 to 150,000, but they had to have at least one local beach listed on TripAdvisor. Read the full methodology here. From those rankings, we selected the top 50. Readers who live in California and Florida will be unsurprised to learn that many of towns featured here are in one of those two states.
