You think this is a ridiculous case of distracted driving now?  Wait until you find out what police found in his truck.

It was just about 1 P.M. on a Wednesday in late June when a 34-year-old man had a lot on his plate.  He apparently had lots of errands to run but also wanted to facetime his kid while having a smoke.  That's when the suspect allegedly crashed his Ford F-150 into a utility pole in Berea, Ohio.  When the police arrived, they found the man had fled the scene of the accident according to Cleveland.com,

Police spotted the man’s pickup truck stopped on Baker Street, about 1,500 feet east of the crash scene. The man was outside the truck, trying to bend the front bumper away from one of the tires.

The suspect told police that he was smoking a cigarette while facetiming with his child.  He told law enforcement that he stretched his arm out, accidentally hitting the ceiling of the truck with his cigarette causing hot ash to fall on his head which lead to him crashing.  The police found a pot pipe, rolling papers, a small amount of weed and other marijuana paraphernalia.  It is possible that the man was smoking pot when the accident occurred.  However, there's no indication on whether a drug test was administered.

When asked why he left the scene of the accident, he told police that he had a lot of things to do and was too busy to stop.
