A proposal led by Michigan Secretary of State Ruth Johnson would let any Michigan voter qualify to vote absentee instead of having to go to ballot box on Election Day.

I'm not sure if this idea is foolproof, as there are always newer and better fools, but it's sort a work around for those of us who think moving election to Saturday or Sunday would be a good idea to at least discuss.

People moan about low turnouts for elections, especially local school ones, and this probably won't solve the local low turnouts, but as busy our lives have become, this might make it easier to vote in national elections.

There are going to be issues to work out. Obviously, vote fraud comes to mind, but this is at least a discussion we need to have.
