Tis the season! Prom season is back and students across West Michigan are gearing up for one of the most memorable and magical nights of the year. For one Battle Creek non-profit, 2022 prom season marks the fifth year of prom dress giveaways.

Non-profit organization Charitable Union is once again offering free prom dresses to high school-age students at their Battle Creek store located at 85 Calhoun Street. The organization says they want all area students to be able to attend these special events. Teresa Allen, Charitable Union CEO says,

We have a large selection of dresses available and hope that no student misses prom because of the cost of a dress.

To make this deal even sweeter, there are no income guidelines and these dresses are available to students who live outside of Calhoun County-- how amazing! Students are not required to have a parent of legal guardian with them at the time they choose their dress, all that is needed is a valid student I.D. card.

The free event is taking place now through May 25, 2022 and is on a first come, first served basis. Dress sizes available will range from x-small to size 20, and include dresses donated by the public in addition to a surplus of 800 dresses that Macy's donated after the cancelled 2020 prom season.

If you or someone you know are interested in obtaining a dress from Charitable Union their Battle Creek store is open Monday through Wednesday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and the second Saturday of each month from 9:00 a.m. to noon.

The non-profit is also seeking dress donations from the public with an emphasis on plus-size dresses. Donations may be given Monday through Thursday from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Charitable Union is a local non-profit who serves seniors, adults, the homeless, and children in Calhoun County with clothing, personal care, baby formula, steel-toed shoes, and household items free of charge. More details about this organization and their free dress program can be found here.
