There are so many people who have been stepping up lately to give back to those who are working the front lines during the Coronavirus pandemic. The sacrifice these people are making by staying strong and continuing to come into work, given the conditions, is something I hope they'll eventually be properly compensated for. For the time being though, it's good to see the community recognize their efforts.

Today on May 12th, the Ybar & Bistro is hosting their first ever "Pay It Forward Patron" Pig Roast For Essential Workers. From 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. first responders and essential employees can get a free meal at the Y Bar & Bistro, who partnered up with Scott’s Pig Roast and Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. The Y Bar & Bistro will have a drive-up pig roast in the front parking lot located on the corner of Howard and West Michigan where the first 300 hungry workers can pick up their free meal consisting of Pork, Macaroni & Cheese, Baked Beans, Potato Salad and a Roll from the safety of their own car.

According to one of the owners at the Y Bar & Bistro, Jon Rockwood, The Ybar's "Pay It Forward Patron" began when someone purchased a meal for his family, then also purchased a meal for the next family who called in their order to go. That family, thankful for the stranger's generosity, continued to pay it forward, and so the cycle began.

You can participate by visiting ybarkzoo.com. For every two dinners purchased in the Pay it Forward Patron Program, patrons will receive a $10 Y Bar & Bistro voucher in return.
