You never know what you're gonna get when it comes to Michigan weather, but one meteorologist has me in a good mood today, mainly because he's saying that Michigan can expect warmer weather and less snow for Michigan. Derek Kevra from FOX 2 Detroit expects milder temperatures and less snow this winter season.

His main belief for this is because we are heading into an El Nino year, which means we will have milder temperatures and less snow near Michigan, with all the cold air staying far north from us in Kalamazoo. Kevra says the last time our state had a pattern like this was in the Winter of 1986, when we saw 48" of snowfall, but he doesn't think we will reach that number. Basically, the jet-stream with an El Nino winter will split, which will keep the cold air north and allows the warmer air to be by us.

Kevra, if you're right, I'm gonna buy you something real nice. The last thing I wanna deal with in my little car this winter is too much snow. Here's hoping for a mild winter.
