While you may still be bundled up against the cold of March, an intrepid kiteboarder headed out to Lake Michigan for the first ride of the 2021 season.

This video was captured at Jean Klock Park in Benton Harbor on Sunday, March 14.

The uploader shared this description:

Kite boarding season has officially begun for the year in my house:) Very windy and chilly day but I’m glad to see my son back out there after a long winter!

Kiteboarding may be just as fun for those who spot them out on the lake as this commenter noted:

That looks amazing! I love watching them.

Jean Klock Park in Benton Harbor, where this video was recorded, was given to the city in 1917:

John Nellis Klock and his wife, Carrie, bought a significant stretch of lakeshore including tall dunes and 2,950 feet (900 m) of shoreline from E. K. Warren, donor of Warren Dunes, and deeded the land to the city of Benton Harbor. They gave the land in memory of their daughter, Jean, who died in early childhood. The Klock deed stipulates that the property be used for bathing beach, park purposes, or other public purposes.

The park represents the city's only frontage on Lake Michigan and has seen redevelopment in recent years as it now abuts the Harbor Shores Golf Club.
