Parchment Water Crisis Getting National Attention
CNN came to West Michigan and spoke to residents affected by the PFAS problem.
We've known about PFAS contamination in Parchment, Cooper Township and Portage water since July 26th. The situation is now getting national attention.
CNN spoke to Tammy Cooper of Parchment,
Now, all Cooper could see were toxins all over her house, poisoning her nearly 3-year-old daughter, Jillian, who has lived in Parchment most of her life. "You look around and you have sippy cups around," she said. Every cup of water -- in fact, anything using the water -- became suspect.
Residents on the Parchment water system which includes Cooper Township have been using bottled water for cooking and drinking since late July.
The original pick up location for bottled water, Parchment High School, is changing so they can prepare for the first day of school. The new pick up location will be the Haven Reformed Church on Sprinkle Road. According to Mlive,
Starting Aug. 18, residents will be able to pick up water from 2-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday at the church. Additional cases of water will be available due to the reduction in pick up dates.
