5 Michigan Cities To Consider On ‘National Plan For Vacation Day’
We all woke up today leaving for work dreading the snowy weather as we do every morning. All I've able to think about recently is warm weather laying out on the beach. In fact, it's not too early to consider where I want to spend my summer because it's National "Plan For Vacation" Day. They couldn't have picked a better place in my opinion.
So where are some of your favorite places to go during summer break? I know there are a few places in Michigan I just can't get enough of. Now is the time to figure out when you're gonna go, where you're gonna go and for how long. Let me take some of the weight off of your shoulders and offer you these 5 amazing Michigan destinations for the next place to put your feet up:
GLEN ARBOR: Located on the North-Western most tip of the lower peninsula, Glen Arbor is home to the infamous Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes. This park is absolutely breath-taking and the atmosphere of the city really makes you feel like you're experiencing the state of Michigan at its purest and finest.
Detroit/Detroit Metro: I can't stress enough how amazing this city and the surrounding cities are during the summer. Between Tiger's Baseball, The Detroit History Museum, The Detroit Zoo, The Henry Ford, Casinos, The Fillmore Detroit, The D.I.A and so many other attractions that make this city so great, there won't be a shortage of things to do here.
Frankenmuth: This will always be one of the most fun and unique cities in Michigan. You can enjoy authentic German foods, horse-drawn carriage rides as well as the fun arcades and kid-friendly activities this city holds. Just walking around and visiting the shops makes you feel like you're in another time period. I highly suggest the fudge shop as well as the music store in the village.
Presque Isle: This small city located about 30 minutes north of Alpina in the North-Eastern tip of the lower peninsula is one of the most peaceful places I've ever experienced. On a clear night, you can see the spiral arm of the Milky Way Galaxy. The old Presque Isle Lighthouse is an amazing place to check out as well as the forest that surrounds the area. You can also go fishing for perch on Grand Lake as well. Look into checking this amazing city out.
Traverse City: This is the ultimate summer resort town in Michigan. You won't have a hard time finding a place to stay as M-22 is filled with hotels and resorts to book. Seeing how it's National "Plan Your Vacation" Day, now might be a good time to book. These places lose vacancy with all the festivals they put on like the Film Festival and Cherry Festival. The Grand Traverse Bay is an excellent place to swim or fish. It offers an amazing nightlife with music venues and breweries that will complete your trip.
Hopefully, you'll be able to enjoy some of these places this summer. Now get to plannin'!
