KFC Closes on West Main; May Relocate

The Kentucky Fried Chicken restaurant at 2026 West Main has closed, though a "local franchise representative" says the franchise is looking to relocate that store.

The West Main location started as a McDonald's restaurant and then became a Kentucky Fried Chicken location in the 1980's.

According to MLive, the two other KFC locations in Kalamazoo (on Gull Road and on Westnedge in Portage) are not closing.

KFC has faced increasing competition in the Kalamazoo area in the past couple of year. Popeye's opened at 4213 West Main, but the long lines that came with their opening have  tapered off.

In the past month, Chick-Fil-A opened on South Westnedge where Bilbo's was located.
