Every year, no matter where you are, snowstorms will always disrupt everyday life in Michigan. But probably one of the biggest pain in the butt experiences of a snowstorm is attempting to turn onto a main road from a side street while you are literally trapped in a canyon of deep snow at the end of a road.

The photos that I took are at the end of Jennings Drive onto Gull Road, just down the road from where our radio station sits in Kalamazoo.

With all of the snow plows and salt trucks that are on the road during and after a big snowstorm, you would think that they would be able to push all of this crap to one side of the road.

Besides, what’s the point of plowing the roads down the street and then leaving the exit of that street looking like a disaster zone?

I’m legitimately curious if the city doesn’t find it necessary to plow the end of the streets as well, or if they are just not considering it. So many times I’ve either been leaving work or trying to come into work, and there is a car stuck in the snow that was either trying to turn onto Jennings or trying to get out of Jennings to go onto Gull Road.

The problem is, if you don’t want to get stuck, trying to get out onto Gull Road, you almost have to floor it a little bit so you get a nice push through the snowbank. But think about that, that’s psychotic.

Almost having to speed while driving on ice to plow through a snowbank so you don’t get stuck, which just so happens to sit right in front of a major road where you could get T-boned if your car decides it doesn’t wanna stop.

It’s not safe all the way around, and I think it’s time the city starts taking literally 20 seconds to push the snow at the end of the streets to the side.
