Normally on Monday's I do something called Kalamazoo Facebook Marketplace Marvels, where I feature 3 weird, cool or odd items for sale in the Kalamazoo area on the Facebook Marketplace. I personally love the marketplace because it's a great way to grab essential items for cheap. But this week I wanted to take a break because I came across a listing coming from a guy in Kalamazoo that kind of bothered me. Now don't get me wrong, this is not a call to arms, so to speak. I don't want people messaging this guy with flaming torches in hands. Someone is selling a World War 2 Nazi Ground Assault Badge stamped "RK."

The reason I ask if this is in bad taste is because I've had my own experience with this before. I have a very strong interest in the history of the wars America has been a part of. Primarily the Civil War & WWII. So items and the history from this time are interesting to me. But something about Nazi paraphernalia makes me incredibly uncomfortable. Once, I was at an estate sale and I noticed the deceased had multiple Nazi items that were authentic. Part of me wanted to buy them so I could donate them to the Holocaust Memorial Center in Farmington Hills, MI.

But the other part of me felt incredibly uncomfortable with someone profiting in any way from the purchase of these items that came from a group of people responsible for the murder of an estimated 17 million people. I understand that these items are unique and of intrinsic value, but I just personally feel like the right thing to do is to donate these items to a final resting place. It seems wrong that someone would financially profit off of something that came from such cruelty and hatred. But at the end of the day, it's his item and he can do with it what he pleases, it just bugs me.
