An Indiana man was certain he could outrun State Troopers at 140 MPH with his Acura.  He was wrong.

Around 2:30 Thursday morning Tropper William Carlson was just chillin' on the shoulder of I-80/94 east bound in Gary, Indiana when a 2002 Acura few by at 116 MPH according to the Indiana State Police news release,

The car, a 2002 Acura, began to increase his speed as Carlson pulled out to catch up with the vehicle.  The Acura sped up to 140 miles per-hour, it began weaving in and out of traffic even though traffic was light, and passed cars on the outside shoulder on two separate occasions.

The driver, 20-year-old Dino Lorenzo Gagliano believed the state trooper squad car was only rollin' with a V6 engine.  So, he figured he could out run law enforcement with no problem.  The suspect was wrong on both counts and now has a rent free stay at the Lake County Jail.  His charges include:

  • Resisting Law Enforcement-Level 6 Felony
  • Reckless Driving-Class B Misdemeanor
  • Driving with a Suspended License-infraction
  • Speeding
  • Unsafe Lane Movement
  • Failure to Signal Lane Changes

This 20-year-old is learning lessons hard this week.
