This poor baby was not having a good morning. This is Baird, a 6 month old, domestic short hair who is available for adoption right now. He's jet black with big, orange eyes. Despite not wanting to come out of the carrier, he seems SO sweet. And Katie Timber assured us that he is very friendly with cats and other animals...people just make him a little anxious. You and me both, Baird.

He's had a full checkup with all of his necessary shots and is ready for his forever home. He's young and with the right environment I'm sure he'll be social in no time. And, as we discussed on the show this morning, black cats are rumored to bring GOOD luck, not bad. Like blessings on marriages, wealth and fortune, safe travels for sailors and so on. You can read the full list here.

Now I know...2020 has been a difficult year financially for a lot of people. If you can't adopt at this time but still want to help there are plenty of ways to do so. You can volunteer both in the shelter or by helping with community events or fundraising drives. You can clean out your garage or closet and donate all those extra items you don't need any more like blankets or dog toys. And if you happen to spot a BOGO sale at your local grocery store the SPCA of SW Michigan is always in need of:

  • Bleach
  • Dish soap
  • All purpose, antibacterial cleaners
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Clumping cat litter
  • Cat and dog food both wet and dry
  • Paper towels
  • Storage bins with lids

As well, you can see all the other pets that are looking for their forever homes here.
