The Christmas season brings holiday festivities, gifts, food and decorations so it makes sense that we want to start getting into this joyous time of year as soon as possible. But, if you're one for waiting until after you clear the turkey from the table to get ready for the holidays, you may be on to something. Like saving yourself some money and getting the best looking Christmas tree on the block.

Thanksgiving is a time for feasting and indulging in delicious foods, particularly the iconic turkey. But, this traditional centerpiece on almost every Michigan Thanksgiving table generally gets a bad rap this time of year. Many people may experience a post-meal drowsiness that's also known as the 'turkey coma'.

A scary situation for all involved occurred recently at a Walmart in Waverly, Ohio. Police were called to the retail store after shots were fired inside the store. And a mother is now facing charges after her 2-year-old got access to her gun and fired it inside the Walmart.

A new recall is affecting retail stores in Michigan and throughout the nation. Michigan residents are being asked to check their refrigerators and pantry as this recall is already causing problems. The CDC is warning Michigan residents to take action now as ten hospitalizations and one death have been reported due to this recall.

While jeans can vary in prices at different retail stores, they're usually not considered a 'big ticket' item. But, you may have to ask a Walmart employee for permission to try on a pair. Jeans are being locked up behind glass security doors at Michigan Walmart locations and others around the country.

While it seems that Michigan would be celebrating Thanksgiving with the rest of Americans across the country, that wasn't always the case. Giving thanks around a table of family, food, friends, and of course football, hasn't been around very long in the Great Lakes state. And the reason why we got our late start to the Thanksgiving table is a surprising one.

We generally hope for snow on Christmas in Michigan, but we could see the flakes flying ahead of the winter holiday. With colder temps becoming the norm in the forecast soon, it's just a matter of time before we go from fall colors to a wintry white landscape here in the Great Lakes state. And we could see some of that winter wonderland join the feast on Thanksgiving.
