You Can Now Wait For Loved Ones Inside Metro Airport

It was just a pilot program, but it has really taken off!

It was back in October of last year that the Detroit Metro Airport allowed people to go through security, and send off their loved ones or greet them at the gate. The program was only suppose to last until January 5th (2020), but it looks like it will continue!

Chad Newton, who is the WCAA CEO, shared his thoughts about the program with  the Detroit Free Press...

We’ve received a tremendous response to the DTW Destination Pass program. We understand that our facility is more than just an airport — it is a place where memories are made.

Here is how the program works...

It is open to 75 visitors per day from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday. Those without tickets who want to enter parts of the airport beyond security will need to register the day before their planned visit, through the Detroit Metro Airport website, and, if approved, will have to follow the same security procedures as ticketed passengers.

Since September 11th 2001 security procedures have changed around our country, and with good reason. Yet, it will be nice to not be endlessly be circling the airport when picking someone up!
