Payless Shoes is closing 500+ stores nationwide- how will this affect Southwest Michigan?

On the heels of Macy's and JC Penneys announcing the closing of brick & mortar stores, Battle Creek's Lakeview Square Mall could lose another longtime tenant as Payless Shoes has just announced the closing of more than 500 stores nationwide.

Payless has 3 stores in Kalamazoo, a pair in Battle Creek plus locations in Plainwell, Allegan and Dowagiac. Information regarding which specific stores will be closed has not been made public. Let's hope they do not close all Michigan retail outlets like Penney's did in the U.P.
