Why Some People Forget The U.P. Is Part Of Michigan
Why is it that when people talk about Michigan or create Michigan memorabilia they sometimes forget to add the Upper Peninsula?
Is it because we refer to it as 'the Mitten?' I mean, we do have two "mittens" to accurately represent our beloved state. Yet, we don't.
Or maybe it's because some people forget and think that the U.P. is part of Wisconsin or Canada.

I've lived in Michigan most of my life and I'm not going to lie, sometimes I forget the U.P. is part of the state. I really couldn't tell you why. I know that it is, I guess it just slips my mind sometimes. Maybe it's because I rarely visit the U.P.
I asked some of my friends and family why they think the U.P. is often forgotten and their response was, "Because it looks like it's part of Wisconsin or could be part of Canada."
Speaking of Wisconsin, Stephanie Jones, a real estate agent from Marquette, told the Detroit Free Press that Wisconsin never forgets the U.P. and a majority of them are Packers fans.
The Lions fans get all defensive. But we have more season ticket holders in Marquette for the Packers. They're only three hours away.
Listen, I'm no expert, but maybe that's why the bottom half of the state "forgets" about the U.P. I don't really know the first thing about football either, but I'm a Lions fan by default because I grew up in the mitten.
One thing people never forget is how how beautiful the U.P. is. If you're looking for some great adventures this summer, there's tons of stuff to do.
Don't forget to add these vacation spots, camping locations and waterfalls to your vacation bucket list!
