Susan Lindmann is a woman with 35 years experience in the hospitality and food service industry, and knows what it takes to bring a fresh experience to a place which has been labeled as being "cursed." On August 1st, Vita's Cafe & Castaway lounge will open its doors at 632 Lake Dr; Coldwater, Michigan. In an exclusive release, she explained the details of her plan and goals for the new restaurant:

Vita's Cafe & Castaway lounge is house in what was originally the old Boathouse Restaurant. We are going to hearken back to the days of the old Wharf. Offering breakfast and lunch to start, and ramping up through the first month to also include dinner. We will serve breakfast 6 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. to 2: 30 p.m., Tuesday's thru Saturday. On Sunday we will only serve Brunch from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. By the end of the first month, we will expand our hours to include dinner service 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday thru Thursday and 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday. We will also have full service bar in the lower level.
We don't want to give too much away at this point, because we will always be innovating and bringing new and different things to our guests! We have some great things planned throughout the coming year! And, yes, we will be open year round. Personally, I'm really getting tired of hearing things like, "Ya know ya only have a short season on the lake" or "That building is cursed! Nothing has made it there!" Well, we did our homework, and identified the problems and/or stumbling blocks of our predecessors. Bad choices and bad management...
Our vision is not only to bring a dining option to the community of Coldwater and the surrounding area that offers American favorites as well authentic Mediteranean and other international cuisine, but to create a work atmosphere where everyone is treated with respect and dignity. Servers shouldn't be afraid to go into the kitchen when they've screwed something up on a ticket. Talented cooks, regardless of their age or experience, should have the opportunity to shine and move up! I love what I do! And most folks that choose to work in the food service industry enjoy it as well! I just wanted someplace I could love going to work everyday. And I want to share that same experience with as many people as I can!
Breakfast will consist of the usual breakfast fare, with a special every day.
Lunch and dinner will offer both traditional and specialty burgers, grilled sandwiches, entree salads, and American and Mediterranean entrees, of course with a great assortment of appetizers, not all of which are dropped in a fryer! We will also be offering pizza, but that will come along either shortly before dinner offering or in conjunction with offering dinner.
We are very excited to have the opportunity to serve the Coldwater area, and have met with a huge amount of community support! This coming Sunday we will be participating in the "Shop Local" event and with have tremendous specials, Foodie Freebies" and much more! Hope to see you there!
