Those in support of the LGBTQ community are coming together this weekend for the annual Transgender Day of Remembrance in Kalamazoo. Out Front Kalamazoo wishes for the community to join them as they honor the memory and the courage of those whom they've lost to hate. Kalamazoo is very forward progressive and the event is sure to draw a large crowd. It will be held Sunday, November 17th from 4 to 6 p.m. at the First Baptist Church on 315 W. Michigan Ave, in Kalamazoo.

This event will be hosted at First Baptist Church in downtown Kalamazoo by Transcend, a program of OutFront Kalamazoo. The event runs from 4 to 6 p.m. In addition to the memorial event, there will be food available, as well as special guest speakers and a reading of the names.Transgender Day of Remembrance was founded in 1999 by Gwendolyn Ann Smith, a transgender woman, to memorialize the murder of transgender woman Rita Hester in Allston, Massachusetts.
