There's a list of "to-do's" that should never be skipped whether you're moving down the street or across the country. You have to update your driver's license, your vehicle registration, update your bank information, credit cards, etc. But, as I learned over the weekend, this may be the most important thing to change once you've moved to Michigan.

My new apartment is on the smaller side. Therefore, we need as much help with storage as we can get which prompted me to order two over the toilet bathroom organizers from Amazon. I went through checkout, checked the confirmation, followed the updates and waited with anticipation for my packages on Sunday...but it never came. In a huff, I went to my Amazon app to see what the problem was and quickly realized...it was me. I was the problem! My dumb self never updated my address on my Amazon account which sent my packages back to Florida and to the doorstep of the newest resident in my old rental.

Panicked, I made a frantic call to my former landlord to explain the situation. The current tenant had already called to confirm they had received some unexpected packages. Now, my former landlord has graciously agreed to go through the trouble of returning these shelves that I mistakenly sent to Florida. My face was in my palm for the rest of the evening.

So, if you find yourself moving to Michigan from out of state or within the state, don't make the same mistake I did. Avoid the embarrassment and update your Amazon account ASAP!
