Taco Bell is testing a new menu item that's too hot for the rest of the U.S.

It's not unusual for fast food restaurants to choose a few select cities to test a new menu item.  However, it does seem odd that Taco Bell only chose one city this time...and it's Detroit.

If you're thinking the new Steak Firecracker Fries sound spicy.  I think you may be right judging by this story from brandeating.com,

The limited-time test item consists of seasoned Nacho Fries topped with grilled marinated steak, nacho cheese sauce, red tortilla strips, cheddar cheese, reduced fat sour cream, sliced jalapenos, and new Firecracker sauce. According to Taco Bell, Firecracker sauce features "a blend of spicy peppers."

You had me at cheddar cheese and sliced jalapenos.  You lost me at 'reduced fat' sour cream.  Go big or go home.

Taco Bell is currently selling the Steak Firecracker Fries in Detroit for a limited time for $3.49.  If you want them wrapped up in a flour tortilla like a burrito its just $2.99.  Why does it cost less to add a tortilla?

What do you think?  Would you try this if it came to Kalamazoo or Battle Creek?
