Due to the coronavirus outbreak, the State of Michigan has extended the deadline to switch to the Michigan REAL ID until October of 2021.

Well, it doesn't look like you'll have to run to the Secretary of State to get your Michigan REAL ID. Since we are in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, the deadline for getting the Michigan REAL ID has been extended until October 2021.

If you have other things to get done at the Secretary of State, you can do some things online or you can schedule an appointment for any time after April 23rd.

I hope it works out for you as my birthday is coming up soon and of course my license is set to expire. I was able to get my new tags at the kiosk inside the doors of the Secretary of State, however, I am struggling to get my license renewed. For some reason, I cannot renew my license online while most other people can. On top of that, it doesn't look like renewing a license is an option being offered when the S.O.S. reopens. I'm not entirely sure what to do. Anyone else run into this problem.
