They say dogs are man's best friends.  That can also be turned around and in some cases, a man can be a dog's best friend and hero.  This time it was the Wyandotte police and fire who were called in to rescue a dog laying on a big piece of ice floating in the Detroit River.

WXYZ TV informs us that "Police tell us the dog was newly adopted when she got away from its owner and somehow got in the river".  Here is the great video of the rescue:
