In a press release made recently, the organizers of the Kalamazoo Marathon At The Borgess Run have announced the cancellation of this years event. The team stated that they not only faced the inevitable task of canceling their events, but had to take on the larger struggle to protect public health and save lives. In the statement they said:

"We have conducted the Borgess Run for the Health of it for 40 years and this would have been our 10th Kalamazoo Marathon. With the support of our race sponsors and our community partners, we are offering refunds to runners and walkers in all of our canceled May 3 events. Our approach to this race has always been ‘runners come first.’ While we know – and you told us – that the delay was uncomfortable, it was necessary to align the forces necessary make it possible for runners to come first."

In regards to refunds, they stated:

Our participants have received emails with this refund information. Some runners may wish to donate their refund to our children’s charities or our charitable work through the Ascension Borgess Foundation to provide medical treatment and relief efforts associated with the coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic. Runners have both options — refund or charitable donation, and can access them here: https://runsignup.com/Race/MI/Kalamazoo/BorgessRun
