Kalamazoo’s Green Door Distilling Bids Farewell To Its Tasting Room
Unfortunate news has been announced by Green Door Distilling Company in Kalamazoo, as they’ve announced that this weekend will be their final weekend open as a tasting room.
In a post they made on Facebook, they attribute the main reason behind the closure to the amount of debt that they’ve incurred while open, and not gaining the foot traffic they needed to stay afloat:

Green Door Distillery Tasting Room Announces Closure
The reality of small business is that it requires more than likes on social media; it requires consistent, local support. Unfortunately, that support hasn’t done enough to offset the rising costs and the legacy of debt we’ve been carrying. We are disappointed that we couldn’t make this work, but we leave knowing we gave it everything we had. Our final day of operation will be January 10, 2025. Come support our staff for our final weekend. We will be open Thursday to Saturday from 5 PM to 10:30 PM.
Fortunately for those who enjoy their products, they aren't closing down completely, as they followed up:
Our products will continue to be produced by GDD and distributed by Imperial Beverage, so ask your local store to put in an order or email marketing@gddistilling.com to schedule a bottle pick up.
The closure has nothing to do with the deadly shooting that occurred at a private event back in April of 2025, where a security guard was shot. Montine Wiley, 27, who was a gun violence prevention advocate, was shot in the chest and was taken to the hospital, but later died, according to WWMT.
