Mackinac Island's longest running passenger ferry's are being sold.

According to Freep.com...

"The financially-struggling Arnold Transit Co. is about to cease all passenger service to the island for the first time since the 19th Century, leaving just two ferry boat services to the island next summer."

The boats are being sold to the Star Line Company that claims they are going to refurbish the boats, and will not increase the cost of a ride to the Island. In fact the CEO of the company Jerry Fetty says...

“You’ll see some enhanced services and additional choices available next time," Fetty said in a phone interview. "We are very excited about it. I think you’ll see a lot of good changes.”

I suppose a smoother, updated ride to Mackinac may be nice! I wonder though how in advance you will have to purchase tickets.
