Over the weekend my significant other and I discovered a hidden gem inside a market in Portage.

My significant other is a chef. With that being said, weekends are often filled with visits to new markets/grocery stores since he loves getting creative with new dishes. This past weekend, we stopped by Pacific Rim Foods, The Premium Asian Market at 229 West Kilgore Road in Portage.

We were shopping for sauces and spices but, instead, discovered a little eatery hidden inside the market. It's called Cravings Deli.

Their menu offers Chinese and Vietnamese style dishes with vegan options available as well as daily specials. I went with that day's special, Shrimp Tempura Ramen. With the addition of Vietnamese Spring Rolls, I definitely had to ask for some to-go containers.

After placing your order you're welcome to sit down at a table or browse the store for any items you'd like to purchase to take home. As well, we got an inside tip: You can purchase alcohol from the store to enjoy with your meal and basically be your own bartender.

The food was delicious. And, if you're like me and have an aversion to spicy things don't worry. There's plenty on this menu for you. If you're in the mood for sweets, Cravings also offers a variety of confections:

You can see the full menu for Cravings Deli and their hours here. Keep in mind, they're listed as being closed Mondays and Tuesdays. As well, you can see everything Pacific Rim Foods has to offer on their website or follow their Facebook page here.

If you're feeling hungry and bored with all of your usual choices, you may want to consider stopping by this hidden gem!
