An incredible weather phenomenon was captured in Grand Haven during the winter storm that hit January 12, 2016.

The video came from Visit Grand Haven and shared on Facebook. It shows conditions on the channel of the Grand River where it meets Lake Michigan.

Meterologically speaking, this type of ice is known as a frazil pans or ice circles. According to the Wikipedia, they form in eddy currents when tiny bits of ice rotate in slowly moving water.
