Flint Female Boxers Brother Arrested For Assault At Weigh In

Claraesa Shields and Ivana Habazin never made it into the ring, but the fight that ensued was legendary.

Claraesa Shields and Ivana Habazin female fighters from Flint Michigan, showed up for their weigh in prior to their fight, when chaos broke out. Brother of Claressa Shields’ sucker punched trainer James Ali Bashir from behind and hurt James badly enough that emergency surgery had to be performed.

Acording to Mlive, Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton issued a statement Wednesday, Oct. 16 stating Artis J. Mack, of Flint has been charged with one count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder.

The fight between Claraesa Shields and Ivana Habazin was canceled and Shields has issued a statement following the incident asking for prayers for the trainer while calling the incident “inexcusable” and “unbearable.”

The incident is being taken seriously and the charge's Artis Mack faces carries a possible maximum sentence of 10 years in prison.

I thought it was some punk off the street who started it and not her older brother. If I were her, I would have knocked him out! He caused the cancellation of what would have been a great fight in women's boxing. One bad apple spoils it for all. I hope he does get 10 years in prison! He deserves it for what he did.
