In May of 2017, Firehouse Subs opened their first Kalamazoo-area sandwich shop. Now, we're getting another location that is opening soon and now hiring.

The family-owned Firehouse Subs chain was started by a family built on the entrepreneurial spirit and decades of fire and police service. Founded in 1994 in Jacksonville, Florida, the franchise has grown to over 1,100 restaurants in 45 states over the last 26 years. There are currently twenty-four sub shops in Michigan, soon to be twenty-five when "Main on Main" opens at 5311 S. Westnedge in Portage.

The new Firehouse Subs is just north of I-94, across the street from the recently completed Buddy's Pizza and next to IHOP. If you've been around a while, you may remember that this space was a BD's Mongolian Grill until sometime in 2014. Firhouse has built their reputation on hot specialty subs and they also offer salads, soup, chili, chips and mac & cheese. Firehouse Subs is currently ranked #1  as America’s Favorite Fast-Casual Chain.

Firehouse Subs also has a charitable arm known as the Public Safety Foundation. They donate gear and essential equipment to first reponders around America. Want to round up that lunch charge to the nearest dollar? Sure.
