Fifty Thousand Apples Stolen From an Indiana Orchard
Who stole 50,000 apples from this La Porte, Indiana Orchard?
Making the discovery that $30,000 worth of apples were stolen from your orchard must have been a shock for the owner of Williams Orchard. The owner, Jon Drummond spoke to CBS Chicago about the heist,
Owners believe the thieves put down tarps and shook the trees, hauling apples away. “I still can’t believe it,” said orchard owner Jon Drummond. “There’s just so many apples gone.” The stolen apples were actually only about 5 percent of the orchard’s crop. The owner said they had just recently installed a new fence, but had not put the locks in yet.
Is there a black market for apples in Indiana that we don't know about? Probably not. Drummond thinks that the apple thieves are probably trying to make applesauce or cider.
My dad was right when would shout, "can't have nice things." Oh wait, that was usually because I broke something. Nevermind.
