Chilling: Massacre Gunman Had Rooms Booked Overlooking Lollapalooza in Chicago
As more news comes out about Stephen Paddock, the gunman who murdered 58 concert goers in Las Vegas Sunday night, there's a realization this tragedy could've hit much closer to home; as close as Chicago.USA Today is reporting today that Paddock had booked two rooms at the Blackstone Hotel facing Grant Park, where the Lollapalooza music festival was August 3-6. NBC News says while Paddock booked the rooms, he wasn't in Chicago during that time period. Lollapalooza draws upwards of 100,000 concert goers daily. USA Today says Sasha and Malia Obama attended this year's event.
Several people with Kalamazoo connections were in Las Vegas Sunday night, including a video producer who was in Marcellus on Saturday night, and was on the stage in Las Vegas Sunday night.
Many fans from Southwest Michigan make the two and a half hour drive to Chicago for this and other concert events.
The NBC News report says Paddock also had researched rooms near Fenway Park in Boston, too, but officials say there are none with clear views of the ballpark.
