Cedar Point in ‘Merger’ Talks With Six Flags

The Detroit Free-Press is reporting that the company that owns Cedar Point Amusement Park in Sandusky, Ohio, has been approached by the company that own the Six Flags group of amusement parks about the possibility of merging.

Quoting a Reuters reports, the story says a possible deal would unite two of the biggest operators in the industry. Cedar Fair, the company that owns Cedar Point, also owns Michigan's Adventure, King's Island in Ohio, and the legendary Knott's Berry Farm in California. They have a total of eleven properties in the United States and Canada.

Six Flags has 26 amusement properties and is the largest operator across North America. The Reuters report says not only would a merger increase Six Flags business footprint, but all give it more power to increase ticket prices.

Reuters also reports that a private equity firm has purchased the company that owns Great Wolf Lodge.
