A super fun and cheap event is taking place at the South Westnedge Park at 9010 S. Westnedge Avenue in Portage on Saturday September 4th for dogs and owners alike. The Canine Carnival will be taking place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for for careful canines and 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. after that for all. Tickets for the carnival are only $5 per dog and can be purchased here. Their website laid out the details of the event and what you can expect to be a part of:

Celebrate your canine companions with a carnival dedicated just to them! Play enrichment games, take silly photos and have a waggin’ good time. Dog Park rules apply. In an effort to include all canines; Careful Canine Hours are reserved for dogs that exhibit anxious behaviors around other dogs and crowds of people. There are extra guidelines in place to keep all dogs, handlers and volunteers safe.

There are quite a few fun doggie activities coming up soon, including the chance for you to swim with your dog for free at the Wag 'N' Wade in  Grand Rapids on August 22nd. Pool admission is $1 for Grand Rapids residents under 17, residents 18 and over are $2. For non-residents under 17 it's $3 and for those over 17, it's $5. You can find info on punch cards and season passes here.

This fun will be just a few weeks ahead of the SPCA of SWMI's 5k Doggie Dash which is happening on Saturday September 18th. Registration for the event is $25, but it will increase to $30 on August 1st.
