A dogfighting investigation here in Calhoun County has led to 10 animals being seized by police so far.

The Calhoun County Sheriff's Office says search warrants were executed Tuesday at three locations in the county, and at one home in Portage. At one home in Battle Creek, no dogs were found, but over a pound of marijuana was, so a 31-year-old man was arrested on drug charges. At a home in Bedford, five dogs and several items used in dog fighting were found, as was a large amount of marijuana.

Five more dogs were found at a home on Division Dr. in Emmett Township, while Deputies say the Portage home contained evidence of dog fighting in Calhoun County. All 10 animals were taken to the Calhoun County Animal Shelter to be evaluated by a veterinarian; this investigation stems from a dog fighting case discovered earlier this year.
