This started out as a simple post about a fun (ugly?) Christmas sweater picture shared by the City of Kalamazoo on Facebook.

But even something as simple as this can bring out the venom.

The Mayor, Bobby Hopewell, and the City Manager, Jim Ritsema, posing for a picture in goofy sweaters. A simple happy holiday pose and on to the next Facebook post.

But if you look through the comments, someone grabs this opportunity to complain about train tracks, trees and blown tires. Sounds like the start to an old Country and Western song.

I understand there's a lot of disenfranchised people that just want to be heard. But I don't know if complaining off-topic on Facebook posts is the way to get a sympathetic ear. You still have to play the game. And maybe it's a good lesson to us all, that this might not be the best way to win friends and influence people.

Ho Ho Ho.
