They risk their lives for us everyday and now they are asking for help in granting wishes to children

Battle Creek Firefighters have taken to the streets to help the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Also, to help support the children in the area who live with the neuromuscular disease. The Battle Creek Boot Brigade is out in full force this week!

When you are driving around Battle Creek you will find local Firefights at certain intersections with their boots in hand asking for donations.

Kevin Lohrke, a firefighter with the Battle Creek Fire Department was out promoting this great charity event and  told Channel 3...

"The firefighting job is amazing, always has been; but to be out here is extraordinary to see the community come together and support these kids. They can go swim, climb, do horseback riding. All these great things kids enjoy. They get to go for a whole week. That's one of the main reasons I like to do it. Go out there and see them smile."

The money raised through the campaign goes toward treatment, efforts to find cures, and the costs of sending more than 60 area children to the Sherman Lake YMCA for a MDA summer camp.

The Battle Creek firefighters goal is $20,000, last year, they raised $17,000, so lets help them hit their goal!

The firefighters will be out from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. daily, through Friday, Aug. 23, at the following intersections:

  • Capital Avenue and Beckley Road
  • Cliff and Main streets
  • 20th Street and Columbia Avenue
  • Michigan Avenue and Bedford Road
  • Emmett Street and North Avenue

The Battle Creek Firefighters are real hero's in every way.
