The First Great Lakes Surf Festival Is Happening This Summer In Muskegon

On August 18th, Pere Marquette Park, in Muskegon will be host to the first Great Lakes Surf Festival.

Yes, you read that right, Michigan will host a Surf Festival!

Joe Bidawid, a former professional windsurfer has put this event together and is calling out for more than just suffers to come out! Bidawid, hopes that the event will attract stand-up paddleboards, kiteboarders, kayakers, and windsurfers.

Mlive.com reported that Bidawid talked about the event...

"The event is intended to provide a fun and activity-filled day for riders of all disciplines, but will also welcome any people that are currently not involved with any of these sports but aspire to learn."

The day-long event will include...

  • Workshops
  • Free Lessons
  • Product Demos
  • Stand Up Paddleboard Races
  • Kayak Races
  • Paddleboard Yoga

To ensure great waves for surfing a wave generator will be on-site for the event. If that were not enough there will be vendor booths, raffles and a great day at the beach!

In fact, Joe Bidawid said...

"Imagine a late summer day on an amazing beach, doing what you love and surrounded by so many people from all over the Great Lakes who share the same passion - that is our goal."

So mark your calendar for a great day at the beach!
