Netflix's newly added docudrama 'Dirty John', from Bravo has ties to Michigan.

The true life horror story of Debra Newell and her daughter Terra came up on the Netflixs que, and I could not resist the true crime docudrama. Yet, little did I know that our great state played a role in Dirty John's life. If you are not familiar with the story of 'Dirty John", here it is in a nut shell according to Wikipedia...

Dirty John is a true crime story focusing on the life and exploits of John Meehan. The main focus of the story is Meehan's relationship with businesswoman Debra Newell, whom he met via an Internet dating site and married within month. Meehan was killed by Newell's younger daughter, Terra, who acted in self-defense when he tried to abduct her on the rooftop parking lot of her apartment building.

While searching to find out how much truth was to the TV show, I was shcocked to discover that the womanizer and drug addict, served time in a Michigan prison! It was the Dayton Daily News that reported,

"Detective Dennis Luken of the Warren County Drug Task Force, who outlined the alleged drug thefts from hospitals in Ohio, Michigan, Indiana and Kentucky".

It was back in January of 2003, when John  Meehan was permanently barred from ever working again in Ohio as a nurse or nurse anesthetist, he was in a Michigan prison serving up to six years for resisting arrest and possession of drugs.

Thank goodness no woman in Michigan got entangled with this awful person!
