To add insult to injury in the Flint water crisis, Michigan Governor Rick Snyder is asking taxpayers to pay his outside legal bills.

Just when you thought the Flint water crisis couldn't get worse.  It gets a lot worse.

Whether you believe the Governor should step down or be found legally responsible is one thing.  But I think we can all agree that forcing the taxpayers to pay his outside legal fees is not acceptable.

According to Esquire,

Gov. Rick Snyder asked the State Administrative Board to approve contracts worth up to $1.2 million to cover his outside legal bills.

The $1.2 Million in question is in addition to all of the other civil suits pending against Governor Snyder over the Flint water crisis.

In this Esquire article Michigan Democratic Party Chairman Brandon Dillon said,

"It's beyond outrageous that Snyder wants to take $1.2 million from Michigan taxpayers to pay for defense attorneys over his involvement in the poisoning of Flint's water," Dillon said.  "That money should go toward replacing lead pipes and getting safe drinking water to Flint families, not for Snyder's defense attorneys."

Let's keep in mind Flint residents were paying the highest water rates in the nation while they were being poisoned.  In fact, they were paying well over double what the average household in America pays for water and sewer service.

What do you think about this latest development?  Should Michigan residence be responsible for the Governor's legal bills?
