So You Want To Play Football At Western; Here’s How
Sure the odds are against you. They might even be a million to one, but if you don't try, then they are a million to none, which is basically zilch. So if you have a "high motor" and think you can play at a high level, like smaller Division 1 football, this might be your shot.
Western Michigan University's football program is conducting walk-on tryouts next Wednesday (March 27th). But you have to have your paperwork in this afternoon by 5pm. (If not this year, keep this in mind for next year.)
To try out for a Western Michigan varsity athletic team, you must be a current, full-time student at WMU. Attendees must have all paperwork turned in by March 20th (5:00 p.m.) and be present on March 27th by 10:15 a.m. just inside Gate 2 of Waldo Stadium. Tryouts will go no later than 11:30 a.m. - WMUBroncos.com
Here's what you need if you are a current student:
A current class schedule that shows you are enrolled as a full time WMU student, along with proof you're carrying a 2.5 GPA. Also, bring photo ID and proof of insurance, a current physical, sickle cell test result. And, finally, a character reference letter from someone not related to you.
If you don't have all that, you can't try out.. But dream big. Dream do come true.
