Samuel is only 12 years old but he helping people in our society survive.
I am always in awe when a child reaches out and help those less fortunate; sometimes it is handing over their piggy bank and other times it is a grand jester. Either way, it gives me faith in people, and Samuel VerHage has filled up my soul in humanity and inspires me to be a better person.
Maybe you have not heard about this super hero amoungst us, but he is incredible! 4 years ago Samuel started collecting new and gently used blankets for the homeless in out communities and he has delivered over 1,626 blankets to the needy.
Samuel VerHage, 12, is hoping to collect 1,800 blankets and 100 sleeping bags for homeless people in Kalamazoo. Samuel's Blankets for the Homeless began in 2015 and has grown every year since.

This year, donated blankets will be once again given to the community the day after Thanksgiving, Friday, Nov. 23.
