There's a time and a place for fireworks...but a gas station should NEVER be on that list.

Police in Detroit are asking for the public's help identifying a man who destroyed the interior of a gas station with a plethora of fireworks. In the video below, a man enters the gas station in the 19800 block of W. McNichols, places a box on the ground, lights the fuse and runs out.

According to 7 Action News in Detroit the incident happened on September 3rd but police just now released the video in the hopes that it would produce leads to the man's identity.

The fireworks caused damage to the ceiling of the gas station but thankfully the clerk, who you can see ducking down behind the counter in the survelience video, was uninjured. Motive remains the biggest question in my opinion.  Was this a stupid stunt in the hopes of aquiring views on Tik Tok or some other social media platform? Was this just a prank? Or something more serious? When I first saw this story I thought, FOR SURE, the fireworks would be a distraction as the suspects tried to commit a robbery...but, clearly, that's not the case.
