Detroit Tiger Miguel Cabrera has been suspended by Major League Baseball for seven games for his role in starting the first of three bench clearing brawls Thursday against the New York Yankees.

MLB punished the Tigers more harshly than the Yankees, with Cabrera betting seven games, teammate Alex Wilson sitting for four games and manager Brad Ausmus getting one game. Yankees Gary Sanchez and Austin Romine also received suspensions. Numerous players from both teams were fined.

Friday afternoon, Cabrera was still upset over the events of Thursday's game.

As far as the situation between teammates Justin Verlander and Victor Martinez, who got into it too on Thursday afternoon, Ausmus said they played cards Thursday night on the team's flight to Chicago. According to reports, Martinez politely begged off making comments about the situation.
