Michigan’s $100K Ball of Poo
The nation's largest ball of waste was just removed from a Michigan sewer and it was not cheap.
This blob of solid waste or "fatberg" clogging the system in Metro Detroit was 100 feet long, 11 feet wide and six feet tall. According to Detroit News,
...it consisted of fats, oils and grease that collected in the pipe and mixed with solids flushed into the sewer, such as baby wipes. They also said it weighed about 19 tons.
The crappy thing is the cost. Macomb County officials estimate that it costs around $100,000 to remove this huge chunk of Pure Michigan from its sewer system.
Keep in mind, even though flushable wipes are "flushable" they still cause pretty massive issues in the sewer system. Use them sparingly.
